I think I’ve just read an article penned by the most selfish person ever. In fact, I’m going to stick my neck out and say she’s so selfish she has a narcissistic personality disorder, defined as being self-involved and having a prolonged, inflated sense of self.
Take a bow Lottie Gross, who’s supposed to be a travel writer and whose piece of garbage spluttered from the Daily Mail online while I slurped my morning coffee. The journey she was on today, however, was not of the geographical variety, but the emotional and moral. She doesn’t want children, never has never will. Contraception has side-effects for her so she really really really must be sterilised. It’s not fair that no one will help her. Oh woe is me.
Oh get a grip.
Of course, doctors have said and are saying no, so she’s bleating about how it’s her body and she should be in charge and it’s no different from having an abortion or taking pills or men having a vasectomy and so she whines on and on.
She doesn’t say she expects the NHS to pay for it, but neither does she say she’ll go private. Regardless, she has already wasted precious NHS resources by hogging the time of more than a handful of ever-patient GPs and exacerbating the shortage of appointments that should be filled by people who are ill. And haven’t surgeons, NHS or private, got better things to do like save lives and relieve pain, not pander to a Moaning Minny who seems to be ignorant of the fact that the best way to avoid getting pregnant is not to have sex?
Then again, travel writing has dried up because of all the Covid-related restrictions, so I suppose she has to make money somehow and therefore find something else to write about. Anything. But there are too many writers out there competing for too few opportunities. To attract an editor’s eye a writer has to be very very good, cover a novel topic or sink to shock tactics.
Ironic isn’t it that in the absence of any other talents or means, she has effectively joined the oldest profession and is using her body to earn a crust.
